> Because colors flood us on all sides, research on colors brings together, overlaps and overflows different disciplinary territories. They then make it possible to question the sometimes labile boundaries that exist between different disciplinary areas. They impose not only the borrowing of multidisciplinary knowledge and know-how, but also the convocation of knowledge that is interstitial to these disciplines and that requires the implementation of new methodological tools specific to the field of color. Beyond inter- or transdisciplinarity, research on color escapes the academic disciplines that are now institutionalized, so that the art theorist David Batchelor realizes himself that his analyzes are beyond the domain of the sciences of art, and he writes in Chromophobia (2001 [2000]) that color is “antidisciplinary”. This article proposes to study the concept of antidisciplinarity, focusing in particular on the different methodologies used by researchers who have been interested in colors and their study.
